Have you ever played that silly game where you choose three things to take with you on a desert island? I played it on the weekend while drinking with my friends. At first I thought the suggestion to play the game was a lame idea but when we got into it I was laughing my head off. You’ll never believe the things that people said…
My best friend is probably the quirkiest one in the group and one of her foibles is an obsession with photo booths. Melbourne has a few around the CBD which she’s constantly paying visits to. Everyone knows how much time she spends in them, and not just because she’s persuaded each one of us to join her at some point, but also because she talks about them constantly. When she mentioned it during the desert island game however, nobody was expecting her to give that as an answer – which is why it was so fricking funny. I mean, how can you take a photobooth to a desert island!
Through tears of laughter, my friend explained that actually you can get photobooth hire in Melbourne, so they’re portable. She said her second item would be a solar powered generator so she’d never run out of juice for her photobooth. Melbourne photo booth hire companies might be persuaded to sell her one at the right price – and no price is too high for our friend’s love of photobooths!
Some other funny answers that people gave included egg beaters, energy efficient light bulbs, and imitation Picasso prints. I knew that my friends were an odd bunch but never did I expect them to be so impractical when it came to living on a desert island. As for me, I’d take only the essentials: a never-ending deck of cards because there won’t be any on the island; a wheelbarrow for collecting coconuts; and lastly my childhood teddy bear Wilson for company. I guess I’m a minimalistic guy.
