Addicted to aluminium storage

under body boxesI have aged incredibly well, I must say. Sometimes I even impress myself. All of the old folks around this home place all sit around and stare out the window or play checkers. Sometimes there’s Bingo, but I’ve never been able to stomach a game where the entire point is to just hang around for ages and wait for something to happen. It’s worse than fishing and golf put together. No, in my youth I was an expert at any and all storage solutions on construction sites. That’d be my day, organising and loading up aluminium tool boxes and whatever else was needed to be sorted out. That may sounds repetitive but I loved it. I never once thought it was boring, because they kept coming out with new under body boxes and draw systems to work with. I was constantly learning on the job. Oh, and to think we started out with wood! It was all wooden toolboxes back when I was a young lad. They worked just fine, but they had a habit of getting termites and rotting in the rain. I remember the day when Jefferson’s Construction down the road switched to using all aluminium. Before that, they were small time. Nothing really that special. Then word got around that they’d switched to metal, and so far as I know, they’re still riding the wave of popularity all these years later! Shows what a bit of aluminium can do. It was a whole new ball game from then on. All these new ways to set things up, but also, things didn’t wear out or rot as often. Since we’d sometimes get blamed for those wooden canopies collapsing, this was better for us blokes doing the fit outs.

Aluminium accessories ripped through the industry like a hurricane, and everyone had to make the switch or go under! Didn’t change for folks like me, though. In fact, I still sneak out to building sites at night and make sure their aluminium toolboxes and ute trays were organised properly. A habit of sixty years doesn’t die easily.
