I’m going to have to speak to a professional about the state of my home. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with it, per se…we’ve been here for six months and it’s all fairly lovely, great location, right near the shops but still quiet. We made sure that before we saw the conveyancers, Brighton was the place for us, and so far it has been. However, I’m concerned about Maisy and her progress in school, and I think the house might be to blame. Our landlord is some business tycoon fellow, and so we can’t contact
him. I’m not going to go complaining to the conveyancers, because they only do property transfers and it’s not their fault this is happening. What are they going to do, transfer us to a new property? No, we bought this one, and we have to deal with it.
However, ever since we got here, Maisy just hasn’t been coping with her work, and we’ve had reports of her hanging around with some shifty characters. She’s started to fail English, which was her best subject, and I have reason to believe that she might have been pulling down her socks as soon as she leaves the car, which is against school rules. It all began when we moved into this house, so I suspect that it had something to do with it. It’s the only explanation. I think maybe there’s been a smoker in here, or maybe it’s an ancient Indian burial ground. They’ve been known to cause all kinds of trouble. Whatever it is, I need to talk to the landlord and have it sorted. He’ll send me along to his conveyancers no doubt, who are all very nice but don’t seem to understand the fact that this house is causing my daughter distress and may ruin her future. It’s like they believe it may be from some other source…but the school is the same, we’re still doing all the same activities, nothing has really changed. It’s something in the walls. And don’t tell me it’s because she’s just become a teenager…teens back in my day didn’t flip a switch just because they entered high school. At least, not that I remember. I suppose I’ll’ to find a conveyancing lawyer with some good connections, and see if I can get it sorted from there.
