Perils of Conveyancing

office stress

It’s not easy, working in the property market. It goes up and down all the time, you have to keep up with trends and the like, and on top of all that, people might as well be putting their lives in your hands. You go to a property conveyancing lawyer if you really want a housing transaction to go right. We’re the experts in conveyancing, property transfers, settlements…that’s what we’re supposed to know. We DO know all that, but if you want to take it completely seriously, it means no stuff-ups. This isn’t a grocery shop, or a coffee order. People aren’t buying cars. They’re buying houses, and those can very easily be forever. That’s a place you live, forever. See what I mean about wanting to get it right? That’s ‘forever’. Always. A lot of money.

Fortunately, it’s not like the system is entirely draconian. There are checks and balances in place, a few conveyancers will look over things before they go to print, as it were…and there can be spelling mistakes. That doesn’t render the contract null and void, fortunately. Even if you’re having the worst day ever and you accidentally type that the house is in the name of the Queen, it still wouldn’t go through. For one thing, the Queen would probably just give the house back to those people, because she has enough money and houses and she doesn’t need some random one in Australia, unless she was really in need of an incognito getaway. Things like typos and mistakes are protected by law, and they can easily be disputed. But then, mistakes have been made in the industry in the past, somewhere along the line. We’re only human, and while that means we understand, it takes time to sort out, and it’s a lot of hassle. Never in this office, but still. So you can see why people who do property conveyancing around Melbourne would take their jobs VERY seriously.
